It takes
everyone to make the whole. All of us, with all of our beautiful races,
like a rainbow, are needed to bring the greatest beauty and the greatest
harmony to bear on the Earth. I dream of a time when humankind will begin
to function as one body, with one mind, and one heart, serving the interest
of its own health and well-being, instead of certain "cells" being "at odds",
and functioning in competition with one another, causing stress and disease
to all of humankind, working ourselves into a cycle of self-interest, greed,
and destruction of the whole. I dream of a time when we will become one,
and I perceive that time to be on its way now.
The artist's given first name, Elana, is an acronym for the five major
race groups known in the United States: European, Latino, Asian, Native,
and African. Her given last name, Stanger, becomes "St. Anger" when she adds a
period after the "t"... St.
Anger is the one who takes anger, pain, frustration, and disappointment--the
by-products of social oppression--and transforms it into something beautiful,
constructive, and positive. According to St. Anger, we all have this capability
to transform our pain, and heal into wholeness, individually and collectively,
for ourselves and for the good of society.
